The Costa del Sol Hospital has been named "Mother and Child Friendly" by UNICEF and the World Health Organization due to the thorough attention patients receive during labor and birth as well as the various options mothers are given on the childbirth process. Women are given the option of labor in water, birth sitting up or crouching position.
In Spain only 13 hospitals have been named "Child Friendly" which is a considerable honor for the Costa del Sol Hospital.
Since its opening in 1995 the hospital has emphasized its priority in perinatal car and breastfeeding support.
