Despite the lack of snow and frost, Christmas in Marbella can still be a very exciting time as the city lights up with Christmas decorations. Evenings are enchanting as you walk through the Plaza de los Naranjos and other squares around Old Town Marbella as well as San Pedro with its nativity scenes and Christmas decorations.
The Marbella town hall has created an extensive Christmas program this year suitable for all ages which lasts from December 1st to January 5th. Christmas in Marbella officially kicks off with the inauguration of the town's nativity scene in the church square (Plaza de la Alameda), Santa's Grotto opening (Parque de la Alameda and the illumination of the city's streets on Calle Enrique del Castillo.
Marbella Christmas events for the family include concerts, contests and even a visit from the three wise men (Los Reyes) on January 4 and 5 who hold a Three Kings parade throwing sweets for all the kids.
There are plenty of Marbella Christmas events taking place this season that will surely entertain every member of the family. These events below are organized by Marbella Town Hall and take place in Marbella center, San Pedro de Alcántara, Las Chapas or Nueva Andalucia, so scroll down to find each town.

December 1: Christmas lights event, inauguration of Santa's Grotto and Nativity Scene
7:30pm Inauguration of the lighting of the Christmas lights on calle Enrique del Castillo.
7:30pm Inauguration of Santa's Grotto and the Municipal Nativity Scene in Parque de la Alameda. Santa will have a mailbox, so children may write letters to him and receive an answer. Don't forget to include your name and address amd you will get a reply!
Free chocolate and rosquillas (Spanish cookies) and free rides for all the children at Parque de la Alameda.
7:30pm Performances by Frank Camelot and Danzart dancers from Laude San Pedro International College.
December 3: Siente Marbella! Food, music and art festival
11:00am - 7:00pm Enjoy live music concerts, traditional Spanish food and local arts and crafts. Entertainment for the children too!

December 6 - 8: Marbella Christmas market
First line of the Puerto Deportivo de Marbella (Marbella sports port). Arts & crafts, jewelry, ceramics, food items, games, and more.
December 9 - 15: Children's Christmas Card Contest
Turn in your works of art into the XVII Christmas card contest held at the Departamento Centro Historico (Historical Center Department) on Salinas Street. Three different categories are judged according to age. These Marbella Christmas events are organized by Marbella Town Hall.
December 10: Live nativity scene
12:00pm - 6:00pm - Live Nativity scene acted out at the Parque Infantil de la Barriada (playground) near Plaza de Toros (Marbella bullring).
December 11: The Nutcracker & Live nativity scene
1:30pm See the Marbella Christmas events performance of the Nutcracker in Mabella at the Auditorium of the Palacio de Congresos de Marbella. Entrance: 10 euro (adults), 5 euro (children). Tickets may be purchased at the theater box office.
5:00pm Live nativity scene performed by children from the Asociación Juvenil Virgen de la Amargura at the José Antonio Pérez Cervera Park.
December 13: Christmas carol contest & Día de Santa Lucia
10:00am - 1:30pm Enjoy the competition of villancicos (Spanish Christmas carols) by various local schools on Plaza de la Iglesia in the Old Town district.
18:00 Día de Santa Lucia (St. Lucia Day) is taking place on Plaza de la Encarnación in Old Town by the Swedish school. Enjoy Swedish cookies, chocolate and glogg (hot wine).
December 14: Christmas benefit concert
9:00pm Performed by the Choir Nuestra Señora Encarnación in benefit of Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (Spanish association against cancer) at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella (Marbella city theater) Entrance 5 euro.
December 15: Children's Christmas Card Contest Exhibition & Los Tres Divos concert.
6:00pm Inauguration of the XVI Exhibition of Children's Christmas Card Contest and the old City Nativity Scene at Delegacion de Fiestas on Calle Jacinto Benavente 10, local 2. This Marbella Christmas events exhibition will last until January 5 and is open on weekdays from 9:00am – 2:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:30pm. This Marbella Christmas event is organized by Marbella Town Hall Party Department.
9:00pm Los Tres Divos perform "Christmas on Broadway" with Catherine Chisesi Sedart's Marbella Dance School at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Marbella. December 15 - January 4: Santa gift giving.
Special Marbella Christmas events! Santa will be handing out small gifts to the children thanks to local shops and busineses from Old Town.
December 15 to January 9: Ice skating rink and Christmas market
12:00pm- 11:00pm The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in Marbella is opening an 800 sq. meter ice skating rink, Christmas market and children's attractions. Hours are from 12:00pm until 11:00pm. Free entrance and a nominal fee to ice skate and for rides. 7 euro for skate rental and 45 minutes of skating and rides cost 2.50 euros. December 15: Ateno Christmas concert
8:30pm - The city Polifonica choir of Marbella performs a FREE Christmas concert at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.
December 17: Vive Tu Puerto Deportivo, chocolate and Christmas concert.
4:00pm – 9:00pm Visit Marbella's sport port (Puerto Deportivo) and enjoy live music, entertainment and more for the whole family at the Vive Tu Puerto event.
5:30pm Traditional chocolate with churros for visitors of the Parque de la Platera on calle Juanar de la Barriada de la Platera. Special Marbella Christmas Events.
8:30pm Municipal band Christmas concert at the Palacio de Congresos "Pasadoble en La Polaca". Free entrance.
December 18: Live Nativity Scene and Gala.
12:30pm and 4:30pm These spectacular Marbella Christmas events performed at the Parque de la Alameda (Alameda Park) in two sessions by the Hermanas Maldonado Dance School.
6:00pm Marbella gala at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella. Free entrance.
December 20: Children's Christmas party in La Colonia El Ángel.
6:00pm Christmas party will be held at Plaza de la Iglesia de la Colonia. There will be different activities designed for kids and teens such as playground games, music and dance, children's snack and entertainment throughout the evening.
December 21: Children's holiday party.
5:00pm – Christmas Party with a visit from Santa at the Barriado de la Plaza de Toros (Marbella Bullring). Loads of surprises. Children may bring their Christmas wish lists for Santa. Don't forget to include your name and address and you will get a reply!
December 22: Christmas at Puerto Banus.
Afternoon Thursday afternoon Santa will visit Puerto Banus. Performers from Danzart will entertain the crowd along with Christmas songs by the choir Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación. Local businesses have organized a raffle of "exclusive" Christmas hampers filled with perfume, wine, food, fashion items and more. Enjoy glogg wine, sweets and other delicacies at the Marina Marbella office or champagne at Agent Provocateur.
December 23: Old Town Neighborhood Day and Chocolatada.
10:00am – 8:30pm Business and shop owners of Old Town Marbella present gifts to passersby with a promotion and free tasting of their holiday products. This is a special Marbella Christmas events.
5:00pm – Chocolatada: Traditional serving of chocolate and churros on Plaza de la Victoria in Old Town Marbella
December 27 - January 5: Royal Mailman to the Three Wise Men visit.
The Royal Mailman to the Three Kings welcomes all children with their requests at Parque de la Alameda.

December 31, January 2 & 5 – 11:00am – 1:30pm

5:30pm Carpa Planetario Albireo at Plaza de la Iglesia. Ticket sales from 5:00pm to 6:15pm. 3 euro for children, 5 euro for adults.
December 30: Disney Concert "Gisela".
Take the children to this fun holiday presentation at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Marbella.
December 31: New Year's Eve Party.
Midnight New Year's Eve party on Plaza de los Naranjos in Marbella Old Town. Ring in the New Year with the best music selection from two great orchestras. New Year's Eve party favors and "good luck" grapes for everyone for this Marbella Christmas events.
January 5: Roscón cake tradition
5:00pm Roscón de Reyes is a traditional round cake with a hole in the middle that is served the night before or morning of "Reyes" or Epiphany (January 6). It is baked with several surprises inside the cake such as a porcelain figure. The one who finds the figure will have good luck and crowned king of the party. The Roscón is offered to the public at Plaza Practicante Manuel Cantos.
January 5: Three Kings reception and parade.
12:30pm The Three Kings arrive in Marbella by boat at the Puerto Deportivo de Marbella (Sports port) and then pass through the city ending at the Town Hall on Plaza de los Naranjos.
December 1: Christmas lights event, Santa and nativity scene

Exhibition of Children's Christmas Card Contest participants in the same place where the Municipal Nativity Scene is displayed on Calle Córdoba.
December 18: Christmas Concert
8:00pm – Christmas concert by the Municipal Music Band at the San Pedro de Alcántara Parish.
