Report crime in Marbella

by Marbella Family
(Marbella)

The province of Malaga is launching a new system for foreign tourists who need to report crimes to the Spanish police. The National Police is offering the Servicio de Atención al Turista Extranjero (SATE - Foreign Tourist Attention Service) to visitors of the city who need to report crimes as well as receive psychological attention when necessary. The service also helps foreigners cancel their credit cards.

Although the service is intended to aid foreigners who don´t speak Spanish it is also open to Spanish visitors.

The SATE headquarters are located in Málaga, however each National Police Station on the Costa del Sol has specialized staff available to help.

If you need to report a crime call 902 102 112 or visit the website www.policia.es. Reports can be made in several languages. You may also anonymously report any crime by sending an email to malagacostadelsol@policia.es.

Pickpockets in Elviria
by: Anonymous

Steer clear of ladies with pink and red carnations and holding out 5c coins. They attempt to confuse and distract. €150 pickpocketed by them in Elviria beach carpark earlier today. They went off in a black van. Should have known better.

Pick Pockets
by: Anonymous

Walking back from Elvira today 29/08/23 via the 5 Star Dom Carlos hotel myself and my husband were approached by to females coming out of the hotel car park. The females were wearing black dresses and carrying pink carnations. I told my husband to walk on and not stop but he stupidly halted for a few seconds, this resulted in him losing almost €200 to these thieves/pick pocket scum! Please be aware when you’re out to keep money and valuables out of reach. Stay safe and don’t let these idiots spoil your holiday. Take care out there!!

Robbed in Placita Homes July 2022
Staying in this villa with my husband and 2 children, second night in, woke to a man in the master bedroom who stole over 45k worth of jewellery. Husband went downstairs after he ran off to find the back patio doors had had the locks broken and all designer goods downstairs also taken.
Police was informed and turned up quite prompt but nothing every came of it.
100% inside job by the host as security guard wasn’t on duty that night & also they came and left where no cctv was.
I will never stay in a villa in Marbella again !!
Terrifying. Please Do Not Take Valuables To This Country….

Car break at La Cańada outside parking
by: Anonymous

After finishing grocery's I went back to my car with two babies and I discover my car window was broken… and my bag was gone. A had everything in there, all my documents and my children's documents… As it was a baby bag (300€ Michel Kors) was there a lot of baby items..
Yes I am stupid for leaving the bag in the car but this doesn’t make the act less important.
Be aware and always put your things you leave in the car away from peoples vision, ALWAYS!
How could a person do such a thing. If you want money then take it but leave documents and personal items 🥺
After being on the line waiting to speak in english with someone I finally managed to tell what was happened they gave me another number (policia local) who asked me again to call to the previous number where I already called, I cancelled the call and took another call to the number of local, the same guy answered and somehow learned english meanwhile, when he understood that I’ve already registered my problem on the line 112 he told me to go to the Policia National to make a report. So I drove withe broken window to the station!
Fingers grossed to get back my documents and at least some personal items 🙏😇🙏
How is that as there are so many cars and people, nobody stoped them!?!

Spiked in Estepona
by: Anonymous

I was on my 3rd drink which I had just ordered. I decided to go to the toilet and asked the girl at the bar to put my drink behind the bar. When I can back my drink was still left on the bar. I sat down and took 2 sips and what felt like almost instantly couldn’t feel my feet and my head felt like it was spinning. I knew I had been spiked straight away. I managed to stand up and began to head back to my hotel and began stumbling. I often kept looking behind me to see a man following me and considering I was walking to slow he wouldn’t overtake me. I kept blacking out and when I can back around I was closer to the hotel but he was still following. As I reached the entrance to the hotel we walked past staring at me. I managed to make it to reception and asked for an ambulance and then collapsed. Next thing I know I woke up in hospital the next morning with all sorts of wires and tubes coming off me. Please be careful!!

Address to villa where I was robbed while "asleep"
by: Anonymous

I previously left a post regarding "villa Mercedes" where I was robbed of most of my valuables in the middle of the night while I was "asleep" (I believe I was drugged by the chef). I am an extremely light sleeper and the thieves managed to come into my room while I was there and take all my stuff including my watch and Jewlery, which were laying very close to my head on the nightstand. It's impossible. The address to this villa is C. Guadaira 6-D, 36, 29660 Marbella, Málaga, Spain so beware!!! The cops were not very helpful and didn't bother to follow up or respond to my e-mails when I've asked for an update after reporting it. They did fingerprints after I went to the police station but I have yet to hear anything about this. There was security footage outside that was never given to us and the police do not update me on where this security footage is or if it's been reviewed. Every body who assisted us at the villa is not responding to me. The house even had cameras in every room that I was told were not recording because the alarm didn't go off. We set the alarm that night but yes it did not go off. I was told this villa is brand new construction and the house just sold 10 days prior and the owner does not have insurance. I was told because it just sold the alarm system is registered to the previous owner so they were having issues requesting the security footage. After looking into this further, I discovered this is not new construction as I was told! It's an older house that was renovated. I am having a hard time finding information on who the owner is if anyone can help out there please help! I don't know what to do here if anyone has suggestions.

False and slanderous post
by: Simon Wye

With regards to post referring my wife and I as instigators of a incident that we call that as we have not received a police report even though we insisted on helping them to process this and were turned away. Denied access to determine claim until they had fled the villa. No evidence of intrusion. Scamming the agent and us to pay for items of dispute as they carried no travel insurance etc etc. Our lawyers involved so the anonymous post is purely fabricated. Why after 19 years of quality property management on the coast as a key holder would I remove a safe when I can access it? How could I do such when I was sleeping? Why would I endanger my positive rep on the coast NOW after working tirelessly honestly for that period?
Some if the FACTS!

Stolen:
Passports. ❌
Had them 3 days later when they left.

20 to 30,000€?
A very large variant and who travels with that much cash?

40,000€ bag
Euros when bought in USA?
Bag apparently goes everywhere with her but obviously not as in house.

All watches?
A whole family goes out and leaves their watches? 1 or 2 I get but not all of them.

They said I told them on meet that if a problem with alarm we come straightaway.
Absolutely not true!!

Alarm was working but I think they forgot to activate. Bear in mind they accused us of stealing on day 2 but found in car.

They said Alison just let herself in. We have proof on what's app that they knew and agreed time she was there.

Travelled without any form of insurance.

Said we had left window open. Not true as I had personally cleaned and made sure locked.

Safe in knowledge that my team and I are 100% honest and caring.

Simon

Ps we have requested this fabricated post to be removed as it has no supporting evidence, let's see if this site does so or at least asks for credible evidence before destroying positive businesses contributing for many years to our community!

Robbed in Marbella Luxury Rental Villa Yesterday
by: Anonymous

Was staying in a luxury villa called villa Mercedes, which is marketed by Solvilla. We went straight from the airport to our villa and did not leave to go anywhere after we arrived. On our first night between the hours of 3am and 5:30am we had about $850k of valuables stolen from us including purses, wallets, watches, jewelry, perfume, makeup, and money. They came into our rooms while we were asleep and literally were next to us but yet we didn't wake up. I believe we were drugged but not sure via the method ( dinner from the chef, a/c, spray ?). The alarm which we turned on before bed didn't go off and therefore the cameras in the house were not triggered to record. Or maybe they were recording us thoroughly to determine when we all were asleep and when we woke up. They staged the place to look like a robbery but it most definitely was an inside job. Beware! do not rent a villa in Marbella -- stay at the hotels.

Orchestrated Villa Robbery
by: Anonymous

Villa got robbed last week in Marbesa, Marbella at Calle De Ovideo Numero 1 between the hours of 18:30 and 22:30 pm (which is mostly daylight!). Have no doubt that this was an inside job for various reasons that goes beyond this thread — safe that was bolted into the wall along with a number of other valuable items (designer bags etc.) were all stolen. Villa was managed by Inspiration Marbella Property Management - Simon Wye and his wife. Be aware! Marbella = port of robbers. Don’t trust management companies. Stay at a hotel

Be aware , Marbella and surrounding area has a huge problem with theft and robbery especially by Gypsies. I don't know how can somebody live there. I personally would never buy a house there. I took my fiance for vacation and in our second day we were robbed by Gypsy fortune tellers who were talking Romanian. It destroyed our vacation and created so much problems aside from financial. We will never go back to Spain for vacation again. even in Cuba we felt much safer than Spain.

Robbed at gun point in Marbella center
by: Anonymous

We were 3 men and my wife sat at an outside restaurant in a little street of marbella old town on Saturday evening around 8.45pm. Suddenly a man approached our table , Spanish speaking , and we all thought he was a beggar. My friend's wallet was on the table and we understood the man was asking us to give him the wallet. We obviously refused and then he pointed a gun at my friend chest asking again to give him his wallet. All the customers around flew away and went to hide inside the restaurant leaving us alone with the criminal in that little street. The man did not take the wallet and started to shoot but hopefully for us the gun was not loaded with any bullet. In panic mode we started to throw at him whatever we could grab, like glasses, bottles etc... and the criminal started to run away. The terrace was a mess, the man did not steal anything in the end . 20 minutes later the police came and recorded our story. Hopefully they will find him ( around 35-40 years old, Spanish, skinny, looked like a heroin drug addict). Please to all of you, in this kind of situation stay as calm as possible and do not try to be a hero and give whatever you re asked to but most importantly keep the very minimum cash with you , don't let any of your valuables on the table or visible, and talk very calmly to the criminal so he understands you will cooperate. Let the police do their job and catch those criminals but do not risk your life. We were very very lucky that the gun was unloaded, but If not this story would have been a pure drama.

Two guys robbed me outside LaSala on Saturday night as I left with my wife and kids.
Snatched my Rolex off my wrist without me even knowing at the time.
It seems someone is looking out for people with expensive watches and tipping the two guys off who wait outside.
I’m suspicious of the taxi driver who was waiting to pick us up as he knew exactly where we would be and at what time. Would be interested to know if anyone else has had bad experiences with immigrant taxi drivers of ‘Sri Lankan’ origin.

Elviria Burglar
by: CrimeMarbella

Me and my brother were going out in PB on friday evening, we just left at 23:00, when my dad called us at 23:45 that he faced a burglar who went into their bedroom! My dad woke up from the door he openen (what makes a familiar noise) and started yelling and he immediately ran downstairs. He took a watch.. but left the macbook and ipad on the table? This is the second time in 1 year we faced a burglar at our house! My mom doesn’t want to be alone at the house anymore and they’re really thinking about moving somewhere else.. people make sure you put al you’re valuable stuf away, even when you go out for 1 minute. We called the police who came after 50 minutes, yep 50 minutes, imagine having someone at you’re house and the police takes 50 minutes to arrive, horrible.

Telebanco Robbery - Nueva Andalucia
by: Anonymous

On Sunday evening (August 25th) my father-in-law went to the cash-machine on Avenida del Prado in Nueva Andalucia.
He managed to extract money on his card but the card remained in the machine. He tried a second time with another card and the same thing happened again, he got the money but the card remained. Another man, standing behind him, stepped up and tried with his card and the same thing happened. My father-in-law then left to meet up with us at a restaurant nearby and when hearing what had happened we returned to the machine but of course no one was there. The thief had taken the cards and started a shopping spree - spending thousands of Euros in just 30 minutes before we managed to block both cards. Be extra careful when using cash-machines.

VICTIM OF PICKPOCKETING CRIME
by: BELGIAN TOURISTS

My parents (88 & 85 years old) were walking monday afternoon ,january 7th ,on the Avenida Del Mar in Marbella. It's the avenida with all the statues of Salvador Dali. A girl (probably a Roma girl) came to them. She put a sprig of Rosemary in my mother's hand and said to her "Santa Maria". My parents understood that she begged for money. My father took his purse to give her some coins. At that moment a second girl came who was very rude. She grabbed herself in the purse of my father. He held his purse firmly in his hands but later that day, when he wanted to pay something, he noticed that all his paper money was gone. She had stolen for about 200 euros. My father can not imagine how she did it. He opened only the purse with the coins and she must have pulled the paper money out aside of the purse.

I am simply posting make people aware that crime in the tourist areas is still a problem and to be aware of same.

2 women were constantly circulating around us. Again no cctv in the shop.
€700 in cash various cards, phone, car keys, sunglasses, LV handbag
The thieves immediately tried to withdraw €600 euros but failed thankfully. Was worried they were going my car.
The shock and hassle of cancelling cards. Terrible experience. All be extra vigilant.

Bus stop scam
by: Anonymous

We were waiting at bus stop for bus outside Marbella when a car pulls up and said buses were not running because of demonstration in fuenguerilo and he could give us a lift. He said we would be fine coming back as they were still running in that direction. It was a normal saloon car with a smartly dressed gentleman with auburn hair and glasses so we thought he was just ‘a good bloke giving us a lift’. When we got to Marbella he told us it would be 47 euros. There was no meter in car and no markings to say he was a taxi. We argued this with him and gave him 25 euros but he still insisted on more and was getting very agitated and started talking to someone by radio. Because he had pulled up where he was blocking the road traffic was building up behind and becoming very impatient. In the end we had to give him more and threw a10 euros at him, slammed the door and walked away. In hindsight I wish we hadn’t given him anything but it was turning into a nasty situation. The next day we saw the same chap dropping a family off near the highway at Cala de Mijas and wondered if he had done the same to them. Surely if he was a taxi he would take you to a requested destination. I have the number plate of this car (fiat) but don’t know if I can post it here.

On 29 July, I left my wallet with my credit cards, money and driving licence in a car hired from Goldcar at Malaga airport. i contacted the company and was told to email them. They did not reply. One of their staff clearly stole the wallet and has since used two of my cards to purchase Playstation Games. The cards were cancelled immediately, but, nonetheless, the thief managed to set up an online account because he/she had all of my personal details on my driving licence.

We shall certainly not use Goldcar again.

Robbed in the street - please beware
by: Anonymous

Beware late night Puerto Banus. July 2017
Left a club around 4:30am, walking with my son to get some food, was approached by three guys and one said his friend was desparate for a drink of water (having seen the bottle I was holding). Thought nothing of it and handed over my water. The guy had a drink of water and then came towards me and put both arms around me to hug me in appreciation. His grip tightened then he sort of shook me up and down, which. Thought very strange. After about ten seconds he let go and went off with his friends.
I thought it was a bit strange and immediately checked my pockets, but then realised the Rolex on my wrist had gone.
It seems one of the guys distracted my son, while the third removed the watch while I was being hugged and shaken. It was all over very quickly, a slick well practiced manoeuvre I think.

Reported it next day, and now perusing an insurance claim, fingers crossed.

Please be warned.

Natwest Gibraltar bank fraud in Marbella
by: Anonymous

In 2011 I left a bar in Marbella and went to the cash point. I must of collapsed when trying to use the cash point but some people said they knew me and helped me to what I thought was a taxi. They took me to a house in the Marbella hills. I was there for 4 hours (I cannot repeat on here what they did to me) they took 5,000 EUR from my Gibraltar Natwest account over 12 transactions and the bank clerk agreed they were suspicious transactions. As I was still recovering from the drugs they gave me I visited the bank in 2 days to be told there was nothing they could do and the money was lost, even though I called the bank 24 hours after the event and told them I could not find my card and I suspected fraud. I was told by the bank to go and speak to the people who took the money. I had no idea who that was and I found out later neither did the bank.

Beaten up
by: Anonymous

Got beaten up by three hooded men, 2 holding a metal wrench and one holding a unloaded gun (for scaring me). My wife and I were going out of a restaurant/disco (won't mention the location), we get into the car and suddenly were attacked by these 3 guys. I told my wife to run back into the restaurant for help, while I was held by the guy with the gun and the guy with the wrench I managed to punch him and kick him out of the way, that's when i thought I could get the gun to point a different direction and shoot some rounds for attention. It was unloaded, or the safety was on, not sure. Anyways, while my wife was running towards the club, the second guy with the metal wrench started to smashing his weapon towards her head about 3 times, and one on her arm, she somehow kicked him with her heel onto his face, and managed to run into the restaurant and called for help. Seeing as help was coming, the burglars ran away. Fortunately nothing was stolen.

Now what really surprised me are two things. The Police and the Hospital. We are paying over 53% income tax to the Spanish government, and what are we getting?? [Edited] The Police never arrived for the 3 hours we were stuck in that place, the ambulance arrived in 2 hours and trying to figure out what to do with us for another hour, also there was only ONE person on duty for the ambulance, this person was the driver, no nurse or doctor to help us. So we drive to the Public Hospital in Marbella. They asked us for VISA's. Obviously we didn't have anything to show since we just got beaten up, but we did present our EU ID's. They basically told us to [edited], called a taxi and sent us to a private hospital.

Overall, I want to say this. When going out late at night, go with a group ALWAYS. Avoid driving or wearing anything super fancy. We were driving an S Class Mercedes, obviously we attracted loads of robbers, ending up both getting beaten up and having no support from the Police and the [edited] Hospital.

Robbed January 2016
by: Irish visitors

Purchased 3 shirts in El Corte Ingles, €144 returned to car which was parked at roundabout nearest to the port entrance. Went to get food, returned to our apartment and realised the shirts had been stolen from the boot. Hired car, and scouts seem to be around cars, be so careful.

robbed in puerto banus they took my rolex submeriner
by: Anonymous

Saturday November 21st 2015. I took my wife out to celebrate. We rented a apartment in Puerto Banus so that that we can go our for dinner and dancing drink and not have to take a taxi home to Elviria where we now live. We first went to Joys then Picaso's for a quick bit then to Sinatras the night was going well. Then we Went to Babilona Banus it was probably about two in the morning meet some nice people had a few drinks instead of going back to the apartment. I started not to feel so good and i decided to walk back to the apartment at the far end of the banus and unfortunately walked along the back row of puerto banus as i walked i was approached by multiple women of the night asking me if i wanted diffent sexual services my wife was with me as i walked. WIthin 3-4 minutes i suddenly saw two guys ahead of me slow and start to talk to me. Smiling asking me where i was from once i said i was from england they acted happy and hugged me. Over only a few second i felt off balance i felt one of the men push on the back of my leg almost pushing me over. I was clearly a little drunk and i could hear my wife call out to me. i they let me go and they walked away. My wife caught up as she was a few steps back. She said are you ok? i Honestly didnt think much of it. I just wanted to get in the flat as i felt dizzy and sick. To cut a long story short i spent most of the night sick and much for the worst and as soon as i got into the flat i realised that my 1 year old rolex submariner was gone. I am thankful that they did not do more and take my wife watch.
My advice to anyone do not stay out too late in puerto banus as the place has a very darkside full of criminals.

I was on Thursday at La Canjada with my baby in the cart. My red leather purse Longchamp was stolen from the handle of the trolley. Inside I had 200 euros phone Samsung Galaxy 5, Coco Chanel perfume 100ml, Prada sunglasses, and many documents. It has been reported to the police. I hope they will see the cameras in la Canjada, because I know exactly where they took my purse..Security there is a disaster ..... they did nothing.

Lost Rolex
by: Anonymous

My friend had his Rolex watch stolen while in Puerto Banus this week. It is a 30 yr old vintage watch with a value of 6.5k. He is gutted. Does anyone know of a pawn shop where it may possibly end up? We're probably clutching at straws - I realise that but it means the world to him as it was a gift from his father who has now passed away.

Purse pick pocketed in la Cala de mijas
by: Anonymous

Beware I have had my purse pickpocketed in la Cala de mijas , with my driving licence, ehic, 2 debit cards and some cash . Market day so they know people will be relaxed

I was hassled in a todo shop , felt unsettled and moved but it was obviously too late . So annoyed with myself , I worked in central London and travelled on the tube for years

Cards cancelled ,can't get through on phone to report to police.

If I see them again I will punch them !

Robbed
by: Tooke

I was at Ocean Club and had my phone and purse stolen out of my bag.
I phoned the police and could not speak to an English speaking officer till the next day, which I really believe I am going to have trouble doing because nobody was helpful when it happened. I asked them to look at CCTV but only the police can do this..

Drugged and Robbed
by: Andy - Hardly had a drink

Just got back from Puerto Banus. I was in a nightclub called [name removed] (DO NOT GO). I was drugged and woke up 12 hours later with £1700 taken from debit and credit cards.
Through my credit card company, I've found out that I was in Fuengirola service station (30 mins from Puerto Banus) where at least £1,000 was taken from me.
Absolutely no recollection of anything and was dropped near my villa I presume around 9am. I was drugged so much that I spoke to my friends at midday and have absolutely no recollection of the conversation I had with them.
Hoping to get this money back through the fraud team and find out what dodgy service station would do such a thing.
Phoned the Spanish police who said unless I go into their station I could not report it over the phone - I left for home the evening after completely blurry so that was not much help. Scary scary event and would not wish it on anyone. Other than bruising and cuts on my nose (probably a headbutt) I was not hurt thankfully. Just the worst weekend and extremely poor just now.

Drugged and Robbed in Puerto Banus
by: Mark - Honest Golfer

As I type, I feel lucky to be doing so. With a group of 24+ fellow golfers, on Thursday 4th December 2014 we decided to leave the more stylish old town Marbella to spend a few hours in Banus. This was mainly for those in the group who'd never been there before. I hadn't bothered with Banus since the turn of the Millennium and the Subsequent Russian Mafia takeover a few years later. I remember the classy chic Banus - chatting to Byon Borg in his boutique on the port in 1987 (I was 17 years old) and watching Kid Creole & The Coconuts perform later on in the evening. In the past I'd been lucky enough to stay at the exclusive Gray de Albion palace apartments with my wife, two kids and other family and friends.
Back to last Thursday night. Sinartras, Linekers and finally a the Navy bar.
The result: drink spiked. Probably Ketomine. Lights out. 9 hours later. Woke up in a hospital bed with a drip and other tubes stuck in me, naked on the bed with a sort of nappy on! Why? Robbed. Rolex watch(I was clearly targeted by the bent bar man, doorman and probably the manager and I wouldn't be surprised if staff in all the bars were involved), wedding ring and and the cash in my wallet €350. Surprisingly my wallet was left with me with debit card & EC NHS card (proved useful). Physically, just a bruised left hip, right knee and minor damage to a tooth. Probably resulting from me being dumped somewhere. Who found me? Where? Nobody could give me the answers.
Unless the Spanish authorities address the rotten corrupt core of their system, they will look back and regret what they are allowing to happen. Spain, a country I love, has lost me. I would strongly recommend that you avoid Banus. The South of France has retained the classy ports. Go there.

CC TV
by: Sian Newman

The main problem being that many of the bar owners do not want CC Tv in the Port.A recent vote had them voting down the notion! Also the port has its own security and the police have to be called in, often too late by then

Excellent News
by: Macklet

I think that things like this can only benefit Marbella and the Costa del Sol in general. If people are aware that there are services that help them in their own language,it encourages people to visit.
So thumbs up to the police and I think that this will be extremely well supported.

Crime jn Puerto Banus
by: Anonymous

On my first trip to Puerto Banus,12 hours in i was mugged and robbed, throttled from behind and made uncontious. My wallet with money and cards watch and jewelery were taken,I was left bruised and bloody and shocked,no one came to help.i managed to return to my friends apartment, whom i had been seperated from early.I recommend nobody to be alone after dark.I was also surprised by the lack of english speaking people in the hospital and police station.I am now back in UK have lots to sort out.I been to the States Hong Kong,Thailand,Philiphines many times and have never experienced any thing like this before.Puerto Banus and Marbella are lovely places, but i think they have attracted a very bad element which the police need to crack down on.
