Lucia di Lammermoor tells the story of a long feud between two families in Scotland of the 17th century, which has just been having terrible consequences for two young lovers. Which containts what is undoubtedly one of the most poignant and fascinating opera scenes of history, and is considered one of the finest works of Donizetti. The opera has not been seen at the Royal Opera House for more than one decade, so this new production of Katie Mitchell represents an important milestone. The main role will be played by Diana Damrau, an expert in the coloratura repertoire, while the American tenor Charles Castronovo will assume the role of her secret lover, the fool and passionate Edgardo.
