Getting to Gibralter and Day trip to Morocco without a car

by Jill

We are visiting in May- is there a way to get to the ports for these day trips without renting a car? Are their bus or tour services that can take us to Algerciras and Gibralter directly from Marbella?

Thanks,
jb

Morocco and Gibraltar by bus
by: Marbella Family

Yes, you don´t need to rent a car to get to Gibraltar or Morocco. The most cost effective way to get there is by bus. You can look at the bus schedule and tariffs on the local bus network page here: http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/horarios.html

Buses leave about every two hours from Marbella Monday through Sunday. Sunday schedules are a bit lighter than the rest of the week. There is another station in San Pedro, so take a look on the bus schedule to see which is closer to you and the times.

To get to Gibraltar you will need to get off at La Linea stop and cross the border by foot. Once in Gibraltar you can use local buses and taxis to get around.

To get to Morocco, you will need to take a ferry from Algeciras. So look for this stop in the bus schedule. Once in Algeciras you will need to purchase a ferry ticket. If you want more information about ferry tickets go to our page on Morocco excursions and you find suggested websites of operators that can answer your questions in more detail.

Bus rates are very reasonable. I believe to go to the airport it´s less than 5 euros. To go to Gibraltar or Algeciras I think it´s about 15 - 20 euros, but call or check out the bus operator website to make sure.

Good luck and have a nice trip!
