Ex Pats Meeting/Club for Retired Persons

by Jeni Chegini

Hello,

My mother has been here for a few years and feels out of touch. Although she has her daughters around her she needs to meet more people which is hard for her. She lives in Nueva Andalucia and we were wondering if you know of any ex pat groups/ Retired persons groups where she could meet and have a coffee and chat with other ex pats!!

Expat clubs in Marbella
by: Marbella Family

It would be interesting to find out first what nationality your mother is. I assume she is an English speaker, in which case there are a number of clubs in the Marbella area that she could participate in.

I am a member myself of the American Club of the Costa del Sol, which has lots of retired members who get organized for a coffee, luncheons, art shows, tennis games and lots more. You don´t have to be American to join, in case she isn´t.

There is also the British Legion. The group participates in social, fund raising and welfare activities. The Marbella Branch meets at 12.30pm every Friday at Pub Deco, corner Calle Ortega y Gasset/Calle Pablo Casals, Marbella (Tel: 952773390).

Then there is the Lion´s Club, which is a charity organization with members from all over the world. They hold monthly meetings at the Hotel Barcelo Guadalmina every first Monday of the month at 8:00pm.

If your mom is Irish or would like to mix with the Irish, there is an active Irish Club of Marbella.

And if she likes bridge she should try out the Atalaya Bridge Club that meets Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30pm near the Atalaya Park Hotel which is about 10 minutes from Nueva Andalucia.

There are a lot of choices out there and I´ve only named a few. If you would like to take a look at our whole list of clubs then go to our page on Schools/Clubs and scroll towards the bottom. It´s not all just about kids! Good luck!
