The school is the worst I’d give it a -100
by: Anonymous

I’m student in SanJose the school is filled with bullies and bad people the teacher don’t care about anything at all.the educación is pretty bad nothing fun to much for a kid to learn I’m 18 and it’s too much now my little sister is there now and it’s to much.i think the school lunch room needs to be look they don’t clean the dishes well and the food is cold they don’t allow to go to the playground until you eat.your not allowed to drink water in pee or go to the toilet.im having trauma after this school I was in a school earlier and it was better it was laude it was more fun then SanJose they don’t celebrate nothing except the day of SanJose they don’t celebrate Christmas not even Halloween so the school more likely to damage the kids to be sad then happy and I would never let my kid go to that school.

Only meant for academic children

I put my daughter in San Jose Estepona and took her out after a year. The school has a mix of good and very bad teachers. I think the school is good for students who are very intelligent and where teachers don't have to make any effort . Teachers have very old way of teaching and are not very creative with students who need that extra push. Students are pretty much left on their own and only the super bright will survive. For me that's a failed institution. In one year I saw many parents taking their children out and moving to other schools. The school management doesn't care. My daughter had good grounding in Spanish but they just kept failing her. Not giving any support to help her improve. Had numerous sessions with the faculty but had to make a tough decision to move her somewhere else. Teachers just followed their own set of rules and one of the teachers wont let my daughter take her answer sheets home for us to see where she had made mistakes. It seemed that some teachers just didn't understand the purpose of education. If your child is bright and you think can manage on his own with very little support from teachers then go for it. Do not expect any great teaching skills to help a below super intelligent student. Did not try the Guadalmina branch so cannot comment.

good in Primary but disappointing in Secondary
by: Anonymous

My children spent years in San José Estepona.
From Secondary School, San josé becomes very traditional with a lot of studying by heart and old teachers who don't know anything about posistive learning.
Children don't learn how to think by themselves.
Besides, it is no longer bilingual as it is in Primary School. Few teachers speak good English or they do but with a terrible Spanish accent.
If you look at the children arriving to School in the morning, compared to other school they seem unhappy.
So I recommend you look for another school: international, another bilingual or a semi private (concertado) school

Is it just the secondary school that is academic or is it Guadalmina also? I never hear much about the infantil.
Sorry your daughter had such a bad experience.

After 11 years of San Jose, my daughter comes home crying every afternoon because she feels tortured by one of her teachers, but nothing happens, in spite of several complaints. I am not very enthusiastic about San Jose.

SAN JOSE
by: Deborah

Both my children attend San Jose,my son having been through Guadalminia and now in Estepona. My daughter in her final year in Guadalminia.
The school is very academic and at times my husband and I wondered if we had made the right decision as we are both English. We have had to have extra lessons at home for the 2 of them as homework is tough. But not once have they complained and ask if they can change to a English school.
Hope this is a bit of help as I know how difficult it is choosing the right school.

San Jose school Marbella
by: Sasha

It is extremely academic. I taught some children there with extra English lessons and the poor things were having lessons until 10pm just to stay on top of the subjects they found difficult! Good reputation but they push the children very hard. If your child is clever great, if your child really has to try not so great. I looked at it for my son but in the end chose Alboran which is a lovely school and a bit more balanced re academia and sport. An all round education.
