The approach to La Fria

The approach to La Fria

If, what you want is a ‘paper tablecloth - no frills’, lunch or dinner, of traditional Spanish local food, with all the hustle & bustle that goes with it, then this eatery is for you.

Most of the waiters have at least a smattering of English, and are friendly, and eager to please, like Paco, who gave suggestions, and advice for a customer with an olive oil intolerance, as to what was, and was not possible, to the extent that he promised, what I am about to be served, will be cooked in Girasol (sunflower oil), all this with a sense of humour is to be admired.

The restaurant is divided into a dining room seating about 45 and a terrace for about 60 plus a further umbrellared 40 covers (no pun intended) in the pedestrian precinct where the restaurant is. As you might gather from its name, this is, a Bar with Food, and the 23 Tapas are one of the principle items on the extensive menu of over 130 dishes, many of which, for the mains, have an option of half portions, I love the quirkiness of some of the English translations (and I wouldn’t want them to change them) like ‘Grilled Octopus paw’,and ‘Common Sole’.

Our party of four chose starters of: a plate of Jamon Iberico baked green peppers, and chicken wings and legs, followed by mains of grilled Sole, half and half of Anchovies & baby octopus, and a chicken wing dish. All were delicious, generous in size, and served without ostentation, If I’m being really picky, the chips could have been crisper. As this was our second visit, we have already answered the bottom line question, ‘will we return’!
The VS
La Fria can be found in the pedestrian precinct of C/Lindavistor, in front of Supercor, 200 m. north of the San Pedro Boulevard.

Reservations (essential in the Summer) on 952784669 They open for lunch and dinner everyday (12h to 17h & 20h to 24h)

There are daily specials and a dish of the day for €4.50; average 3 course with wine €28 Street parking.
