If you want to dine at Sukhothai on a particular day at a particular time then you are well advised to book ahead.

We have been going to this eatery for over 25 years and have never once been disappointed.

Originally opened by Mrs. Sukhothai, way back, it is now run by Ping Mak and the high standards that were laid down at the outset are still evidence today.

It is a true joy to visit this eatery, not only for the Thai cuisine, which is exquisite, but for all the other elements that make an enjoyable meal out. They have, justifiably, a reputation that any restaurateur would envy, and that’s why they can fill their 60 or so covers, and get some second sittings!

A comfortably appointed dining room with subdued lighting and background music, attentive, knowledgeable staff, and a kitchen that consistently produces quality food

It would be hard not to find something to delight the taste buds out of the extensive menu, from which we chose the mixed starter, and to follow a mild chicken curry, Massaman (fillet beef curry with peanuts), Pat Thai (noodles with prawns) Moo Pat Pak (pork and mixed vegetables) and rice.

Both the starter and mains were delicious, and to accompany the meal we chose Sake which is served warm, and is normally decanted in a traditional porcelain flask, (in Japan called a Tokkuri) , but this time it was served In a thermally insulated version, so the wine stayed at pretty much the right temperature all the time. I have never seen this before, so there you are,
I learn something new all the time.

The answer from a simple question “Will we return?” Yes, Yes, Yes, says it all.
