Schools for teenagers

by Mel
(Manilva)

We are due to move to Manilva and I have two teenagers; one aged 13 and one aged 15. They are currently in years 8 and 10 in the UK. I have been trying to investigate options regarding schooling, anywhere from Marbella to Gibraltar! It seems we cannot afford the fees relating to the private schools; prices seem to be around £1500 per month, per child I believe. So this leaves the state schools but I'm not sure that would be the best thing for my children as they are nearing the end of their education. They do not speak Spanish either! The cheapest option appears to be Gibraltar but I understand you still have to pay school fees. Also it is so far away. Can anyone help me?? I feel like I am missing something! Are there any secondary schools in the Manilva or Marbella area that don't cost a fortune and teach in English?

Home schooling
by: Mel

I have read on various forums that home schooling is not an option as it is almost considered illegal in Spain. Perhaps I have misunderstood but, from what I can understand, every child must be in a school. Otherwise, home schooling would certainly be a favourable option for us.
