Peggotty’s El Pilar

Save from their annual holidays Peggotty’s have been continuously open since they started in October 2004, and it was only the pandemic that made them shut up shop. Now reopened and raring to go they have retained most of their staff, all of which are very much influenced by their motto The finest Fish & Chips in the world, and who’s to say they are not!

I have lost count of the many times that we have eaten with them, because it is a rarity for us to visit restaurant that I have reviewed more than once or twice, but of all of the restaurants we class as our regulars (5 or 6 times a year) Peggotty’s is the one that we missed most during the lock-down period.

Naturally they have installed all the requirements for safe eating and all the staff maintained a good standard of sanitization during service.

Although they offer Chicken – Pies – Ribs – burgers – Bangers and much more, we only ever select from the fish menu, and the Cod we both chose was as succulent as I remember. With their 70 seater terrace even with social distancing 40 covers are available. And the takeaway service is still operating.

So thank you Nicky, Costa and all the staff for the past and the future

An ultra modern restaurant and take-away, that seats 50 inside and a further 70 on the closeable terrace. There is forecourt parking for 6 or 7 cars, plus, a reasonable amount space in the one way street. Unless you intend taking a large party, bookings are usually not needed, but because we like a particular table we normally book on 952883666 They can be found at 8-10 Edf. Benapilar which is on El Pilar 29680 See map. Opening hours are from 18:00 till 23:00 from Monday to Saturday Average meal and drink price 20€. There is a Kiddies’ menu for the under 13’s, and a take away menu that is priced to reflects this.

Note: it is difficult to make a comparison between Fast Food eateries and general restaurants, but I hope my perceptions are taken in the context that this is a fast food operation and that the marks I have given reflected this.
