La Quinta Golf Academy for children and disabled

The La Quinta Golf Academy in Marbella in conjunction with ASPADEM (Association in aid of the disabled on the Costa del Sol) has launched golf lessons for the disabled.

Classes are taught to socialize students and help the disabled familiarize themselves with the rules and theory of the game. Groups are held for ages 18 - 35 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the La Quinta Golf Academy. Professional trainers lead the group and hold a golf tournament at the end of June to show off their new skills.

La Quinta also offers a children´s program - La Quinta Tigers Golf Academy - for children from 6 years old. Groups of 10 or less are instructed by professional golfers and tournaments are held at the end of each semester.

Adam Freeman Golf Academy

My friend´s brother is an instructor who teaches at various golf courses in Marbella and has his own academy called the Adam Freeman Golf Academy. He´s taught a couple of kids at our school and they seemed to be happy. He teaches adults and children everything from putting, chipping, swinging and course management. If you are coming during the summer months (July - October) he organizes a summer camp for kids which costs 199 euros for 5 days of golf (3 hours a day) Monday through Friday. In addition he offers packages in golf teaching holidays, golf rehabilitation, and masterclasses.

Adam can organize play at Marbella Golf and Country Club, Santa Clara Golf Club (Marbella), Aloha Golf Club (Marbella) or La Resina Golf and Country Club in Estepona (20 - 30 minutes west of Marbella). Golf in Marbella with children

As Marbella is certainly one of the golf meccas of the world there are a million and one places to play golf here. We are not golfers ourselves, so haven´t posted anything on golf yet in Marbella and can´t give you a personal recommendation. However, I suggest you play golf near where you are staying. Where will you be spending your holiday?

Our friends are golfers and their daughter is quite good now. She´s been playing for four years at Aloha Golf Club in Nueva Andalucia not far from Puerto Banus, which is very central. Usually Aloha Golf club is open only to members and accept non-members from May to September. However, with the crisis ensuing here they are willing to accept non-members off season. Aloha Golf Club charges 120 euros for playing 28 holes. Their hours run approximately from 8:00am - 3:00pm, but this changes depending on the time of year. You would need to make a reservation regardless. They speak English.

Aloha Golf Club also has a children´s club where kids can play on a 9 hole golf course with an instructor. The age for this runs from approximately 6 years old and costs 25 euros for half an hour and 50 euros for an hour. The golf school is open from 9:00am - 2:00pm, closes for a break and re-opens from 4:00pm - 6:00pm, however I imagine this might change as well according to season. We also have friends who play golf in Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club with their two sons aged 11 and 7. This course is located in the mountains about 15 minutes from Puerto Banus.
