Lunch at Conrad’s il Ristorante, Nueva Andalucia, September 2017 ‘No Room at the Inn’

It was our own fault – we didn’t make a booking! – well I ask you, lunchtime in late September, who would have thought with over 60 covers on the terrace that they would be full, but such is the popularity of this eatery that if you want alfresco dining - you make a reservation.. Maitra D’ Sabina saved the day by finding us a place inside the restaurant which gave us the opportunity to observe the logistics of how her staff of three worked. Well trained, enthusiastic, Fit, and smiling, everything done in double time with a 30 metre run between the kitchen and terrace by Esther, Tola, and Hamed, they coped wonderfully.
With a choice of 10 starters, 7 mains and 5 deserts their 17€ table D’hôte menu gives a reasonable selection though there was no fish main on offer, but listed on the ‘extras’ menu, for 3€ more there are ‘Duck Brest, Lamb Spaghetti Bolognaise, and Dorada Risotto with Ceps and Prawns. And for a 7€ surcharge you can order a Rack of Lamb, Osso Bucco, or Braised Shoulder of Lamb. This is only what was on today’s menu, as It changes daily.
We had starters of Foie Gras Terrine and Beef Carpaccio (perfectly marinaded) with Rocket Salad and Parmesan shavings, and mains of Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad in a gorgeous Lemon Sauce, and Calves Liver with Apple and potato. For the second time in as many weeks, according to my wife, the Liver proved to be a challenge to the Da Bruno benchmark. Desserts of chocolate Mousse and Cheese cake with Raspberry Sorbet rounded off the meal. In taste, quality, texture, and quantity of each of the dishes produced by Chef/owner Renee left nothing to be desired. The service was exemplary, and the whole experience was one of pleasure.
Conrad’s can be found in Avda. Del Prado in Nueva Andalucía just before Aloha Gardens,
and it has its own private car park. For dinner they have an A’la carte menu. They open for Lunch and Dinner Monday to Friday and for dinner only on Saturday. Their day of rest is Sunday.
