the approach to Kokomo

Most people in the Marbella to Estepona area will know of Kokomo’s fantastic value of their weekday lunches and fixed price dinners that over the years we have eaten many times. But for what ever reason we have never tried their Sunday Lunch. So to put that to rights, we made the decision on the previous Friday to go, and were fortunate enough to get a table for 5, even though they can seat some 300 in 2 sittings, the popularity of this venue means that quite often Maître ‘D Sally has to turn late bookers away.

Chef Simon’s menu gives a choice of a two course for 13.50€ or 3 course for 16.50€ and its specifics change every week but typically have 4 or 5 starters of Carrot and coriander Soup served with hot bread, Poached asparagus and Serrano ham in a chive pancake with hollandaise sauce, Prawn cocktail with an option to add smoked salmon, king prawns in a Marie Rose sauce, or Chicken liver pate with a red onion marmalade and toast. Mains always include roasts of Sirloin of Scottish Beef, Slow roasted Belly of Pork, and interesting dishes of chicken, and salmon. So they pretty well have most of the popular Sunday fair covered.

All five of us had the Roast Beef which came with all the trimmings, and a boat of gorgeous gravy, The meal was generous in size, delicious in flavour, and served on hot plates (hurrah) We shared desserts of Sticky Toffee Pudding, Meringue’s with fruit and an Ice cream, and with a pleasant Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the meal, the bill with tip came to under 20€ a head. The service was excellent, friendly and informative.

Unfortunately due to us altering or booking the day before from 4 to 5 people we were in the smaller of the two dining rooms and couldn't hear the lovely earthy voice of Helana Paul, so may be that will teach me to book earlier!

The VS.
