There are so many words that denote ‘A PLACE TO EAT’, many within them are self descriptive of what one should expect, ranging from Fine Dining to a Sandwich Bar.

Boulevard 171 describes itself as ”GastroTerrace”, but if you think of it as likened to a Gastro Pub with Sunshine, you won’t be far wrong.

On the rare occasions that the weather is inclement, there’s a glass curtain that can divide the Al Fresco area that has over 100 covers, to an inside dining room seating a quarter of these, and this, combined with a retractable roof, can fulfil most of the permutations needed for a comfortable and pleasing dining experience.

They have a sharing menu as well as the normal salads, hot & cold starters, hamburgers, quartets’ of Pizzas, sandwiches, and desserts. They really do cover anything from a snack to a three course meal, and with a well stocked bar and a modest wine list, it would be hard not to find something to please.

Our waiters, Victor and Miriam were both helpful and informative, The pedigree of the owners, Troyano, stretch back to 1947 when they opened their first Panaderia/ Pasteleria in San Pedro and naturally they supply all the bread and pastries to B171.

We shared a starter of Katafi Prawns on a sticks with a sweet & sour sauce (Katafi is shredded pastry just like the wheat of the famous cereal), and to follow I thought that as beef burgers are their thing, I would have the 160 gr. Boulevard Special, and Dizzzy had the Beef Open Sandwich with all the trimmings (see photo).

We share a dessert of Apple Tart Tartin with Ice Cream, and this made me rhetorically ask the question ‘Why are chefs still using cloves’?, which in my opinion, only serve to taint the taste of the Apple - does anybody actually like the taste of cloves?

Apart from this, I must say that all the rest of the meal was beyond our expectations in presentation, taste and value!. So in this venture, I think they have a winning formula, and Bottom Line - we will return!

V.S. Boulevard 171 is at the east and of the San Pedro Boulevard, by the La Colonia round about with free parking places in the roads surrounding the boulevard and in La Colonia.
