Roman ruins Vega del Mar

by Vega del Mar
(San Pedro de Alcantara)

The ruins just opposite Calpe School are of a Roman Basilica and are open to the public on Fridays from 11:00 - 13:00. Large groups can visit on other days if an appointment is made 952 825 035.

There are three extraordinary archaeological sites located in San Pedro Alcantara and Marbella; The Roman Villa of Rio Verde, The Early Christian Church, Vega del Mar, in Linda Vista Playa and the Roman Bath in Guadalmina. Sadly, all three sites are practically unknown in Marbella. The three monuments clearly demonstrate that Marbella and San Pedro, Salduba and Cilniana, as they were called then, have played an important role already in Roman times.
