Non-Surgical Facelift

Today, at Vithas Xanit Hospital Department of Dermatology and Aesthetic Dermatology we are discussing what are known as "non-surgical facelifts" which encompass different techniques orientated towards correction of facial flaccidity. Facial flaccidity occurs as a result of multiple factors, amongst them the reduction in collagen due to ageing with the resulting loss of skin firmness. These techniques help to improve skin tone and slow down or delay skin ageing. The different treatments we offer are:

PDO THREADS (POLYDIOXANONE):
Polydioxanone is a material which is absorbable and used in surgical sutures in many types of surgery, experience of its use is widespread. At Vithas Xanit we use different PDO threads to create a vector grid depending on the flaccidity of the patient's face, this stimulates the patient's own collagen stopping the process of collagen loss and increasing its production. Treatment is performed during an outpatient consultation and takes approximately an hour, the patient can carry on as usual immediately afterwards.

CALCIUM HYDROXYLAPATITE
Calcium hydroxylapatite is another material used to stimulate the patient's own collagen production. Calcium hydroxylapatite is the main component of bones and teeth; this, suspended in a carboxymethyl cellulose gel carrier, is injected into the dermis in the form of vectors, it is then absorbed whilst stimulating the patient's own collagen production. Performed during an outpatient consultation the patient can continue with their normal routine afterwards.

RADIOFREQUENCY:
Is a non-invasive technique which greatly improves the appearance of the face, lifting the eyebrows when the upper part of the face is treated, reducing nasal folds when treating the cheeks and achieving greater definition of facial contours when treating the whole face, including the skin on the neck. It is a device which emits radiofrequency waves increasing the temperature in the tissues, causing the collagen fibres of the middle and deep layers of the skin to contract. During the months following treatment the skin starts a progressive process of new collagen formation. Little by little, the skin begins to look younger, smoother and more elastic, it has a long lasting effect.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)
One of the treatments used to slow ageing and restore skin quality is PRP. Biostimulation is a procedure which activates the production of type III collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. We achieve this by concentrating the number of platelets significantly along with the growth factors present in them, these being responsible for repairing tissue when injured in any way. A specimen of blood is taken from the patient, we concentrate and activate the platelets to inject them selectively where there is tissue damage or deterioration, achieving a significant improvement in the skin. As it is the patient’s own blood the risk of any reaction is reduced to a minimum. The procedure is performed during the same consultation, the patient being able to return to their normal routine afterwards.
All of these techniques are available in the Department of Dermatology and Aesthetic Dermatology at Vithas Xanit International Hospital. The team of Dermatologists led by Dr. Enrique Herrera Acosta, offer comprehensive treatment to patients, providing diagnosis, treatment and prevention of skin problems.
