My boyfriend is doing a teacher training course so is out all day and I am desperate to meet other young mums. Does anyone know of any in the Marbella area?”

* Shopping on Sundays

Remember that for the whole month of December both El Corte Ingles and La Canada shopping centers are open on Sundays. Also, keep in mind that these stores are open till 10:00 at night, so you can get some shopping done after work or before/after dinner. Or, have dinner at El Corte Ingles, there is a restaurant there as well as many eateries just outside of the shopping center. La Canada has a full food court and many cafes inside the center.

This is the last Sunday before Christmas so you may find yourself spending the whole day shopping.

TIP: If you are planning on going to La Cañada, please go as early as possible. The shopping center and parking lot fill up quickly and things get pretty mad there. Click here to read more...


* The Wizard of Oz at The Studio

On Saturday 17th December, the Estepona Youth Theatre will perform 'The Wizard of Oz' for all audiences. The show is an evening performance starting at 7pm at the Equestrian Centre, Estepona. Tickets are 5 euros. If you are interested for your child to start drama classes and have the chance to perform in shows or you just wish to purchase tickets, please call Julie Curran on 655 607 506. * Au Pairs in Marbella

One of our readers asks ”I work as an Au Pair here in Marbella. I know a lot of German Au Pairs here, but I believe that there have to be Au Pairs from other nationalities as well. Do you have (know of) an Au Pair who I can get in touch with? I'm from Holland.”

* Hike in Tarifa mountains

Discover the mountains near Tarifa with a hike through Río Guadalmesí de Colada (Colada de la Costa) this Sunday December 18th with Salidas Abiertas. This is an 11 kilometer intermediate hike for only 12 euro, which includes guide, transportation and insurance.

* Martial arts and gymnastics demonstration

XIII Exhibición de Navidad de Artes Marciales y Gimnasia Rítmica - The XIII Christmas exhibition of Martial Arts and Rhythmic Gymnastics is held on Saturday December 17th at the Palacio de Deportes de San Pedro (San Pedro Sports Palace) starting at 10:00am. Children from local clubs will be demonstrating their skills acquired during the first trimester. From 10:00 to 1:30 126 students from San Pedro and Marbella will hold demonstrations in aikido, judo, kung fu and karate. From 11:30 to 12:30 213 students will demonstrate their gymnastics skills including the "technical group" which is currently in the first division nationally.

This is an interesting chance to see what the local clubs can produce and may inspire your children to take up some of the activities offered by our community.


* Vive Tu Puerto Marbella

A special edition of Vive Tu Puerto Marbella will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 16.00 - 21.00, with live music, concerts and children's entertainment. Click here to read more…

Traditional chocolate with churros will be passed out for visitors of the Parque de la Platera on calle Juanar de la Barriada de la Platera on Saturday December 17th. If you are a chocoholic or are just curious about what this traditional Spanish dish is, then this is a must see. If you miss this one, don’t worry, there is another one next Friday December 23rd. On Saturday December 17th at 8:30pm the Municipal band Christmas concert will be held at the Palacio de Congresos "Pasadoble en La Polaca". Free entrance.


* Live nativity scenes

* Marbella ice skating rink

The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in Marbella just opened an 800 sq. meter ice skating rink, Christmas market and children's attractions last Thursday December 15th. Hours are from 12:00pm until 11:00pm. Free entrance and a nominal fee to ice skate and for rides. 7 euro for skate rental and 45 minutes of skating and rides cost 2.50 euros. * Marbella children’s Christmas party

Don’t miss the Christmas party in Marbella organized by Marbella Town Hall on Wednesday December 21st at 5:00pm. There will be a visit from Santa at the Barriado de la Plaza de Toros (Marbella Bullring). Loads of surprises. Children may bring their Christmas wish lists for Santa. Marbella Family Fun is so fortunate to have such a great community. If you haven’t visited our Facebook wall yet, you really should. We have an active community there with quick tips and answers for you. Feel free to post on our wall anytime to share a nice restaurant, a beautiful view from your terrace or a warning about a bad experience you may have had at a local shop.

We all enjoy photos, and the easiest way to share your photos with us is through the Facebook app on your mobile phone. You just turn around and take a shot of wherever you may be, add a comment (if you like) and upload it immediately. It’s super easy and fun to see all the comments we get.
