Marbella Carnival 2011

The Marbella Carnival is taking place this year from February 26th to March 13th.


PROGRAM

Saturday February 26

21:00 h.: 2011 Carnival presentation D. Salvador de la Peña at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella. Opening speech and lecture, presentation of the carnival poster, presentation of the Golden Shield, presentation of the Venus, Nymphs and Momo God of the Carnival, presentation of the competitive groups of carnival entertainment.

Entrance: 12 euros. Tickets may be purchased at the Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca (C/ José Iturbi) or at the theater box office one hour before show starts.



Sunday February 27

11:00 h.: Carnival celebrations at Bda. Plaza de Toros. Fun activities will take place at the children´s playground at Plaza de Toros: Costume competition, carnival entertainment and many surprises.



Monday February 28

11:00 a 14:00 h. Indoor football tournament at the Polideportivo Antonio Serrano Lima.

13.00 h. Tripe tasting at the Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca with carnival entertainment.

20:00 h. Municipal band concert at Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.

Thursday March 3

10:00 h.: Carnival walk starting at Plaza de los Naranjos, C/ Estación, Plaza de la Victoria, C/ Pedraza, Plaza de Africa, C/ Africa, Avda. Ramón y Cajal, Paseo de la Alameda, C/ Carlos Mackitons, Avda. del Mar, Duque de Ahumada (Paseo Marítimo), Avda. Maria de Salamanca ending at Terrazas del Puerto Deportivo.



Saturday March 5

V Swimming Carnival - Trophy of the Sardine

11:00 h.: Gathering of the swimming caps at the breakwater of the Puerto Deportivo (must
regisgter before swimming).

12:00 h.: Departure from Puerto Deportivo and arriving at Fontanilla Beach.

Organized by: Club Natación de Marbella (Marbella Swim Club)

12:30 h.: VIII Mussel Carnival, “Memorial Antonio Rubio", “El Extranjero”, in the carnival tent at Parque de la Represa (next to pavillion). Mussel tasting, carnival entertainment.




March 7 - 9

21:30 h.: Semifinals of the Carnival Entertainment Competition at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella

Entrance: 10 euros.Tickets may be purchased at the Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca (C/ José Iturbi) or at the theater box office one hour before show starts.



Thursday March 10

17:00 h.: Kids party in the carnival tent at Parque de la Represa. Entertainment, workshops, costume competition (individual, pairs, and groups). Children aged 14 and under are welcome to participate.



Friday March 11 - CANCELED!

17:00 h.: Kids Carnival Party on Plaza de la Iglesia in Old Town Marbella.

21:30 h.: Grand Finale of the Carnival Entertainment Competition at Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.


Entrance: 12 euros. Tickets may be purchased at the Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca (C/ José Iturbi) or at the theater box office one hour before show starts.



Saturday March 12

18:30 h.: Comedy Parade:

Starting at C/ Gregorio Marañón, Avda. Ricardo Soriano, Avda. Ramón y Cajal, Avda. Nabeul, Puente de Málaga, Avda. Maíz Viñals and ending at the carnival tent at Parque de la Represa.

Followed by: Gran Fiesta de Carnaval (the big party!) at the tent at Parque de la Represa.

00:00 h.: Burial of the Sardine - carnival closing ceremony at Parque de la Represa.



Sunday March 13

13:00 h.: Grand Chorizo Carnival in front of the Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca Marbellí (Calle José Iturbi). Free chorizo tastings and carnival entertainment.

The Marbella Fiesta Delegation reserves the right to modify any events in light of unforeseen circumstances.

The Marbella Carnival is taking place this year from February 26th to March 13th. Currently, the Marbella Town Hall website does not have any schedule posted, but we will keep checking and announce the information as it comes out. So watch this space!
