(San Pedro de Alcantara)
Friends Restaurant San Pedro
Today, lunch at Friends Restaurant with the (increasingly well-satisfied) kids in San Pedro de Alcantara. Maybe the best value restaurant on the planet.
Apart from divine day-marinated soy and paprika chicken wings and 'flor-de-tomate' (deep red sun ripened large tomatoes with vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and volcanic black salt) and BBq'd corn, we had a frying pan each filled with local organic hen's eggs, pata negra jamon (acorn-fed pig aged ham - sorry Rabbi), and cripsy fried potatoes covered in black truffles and truffle oil and tossed with buttery fried green peppers.Less than £8 a portion - amazing.
We finished with a chocolate trio - chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream and chocolate served in olive oil and salt - and yes it was delicious. I had a glass of a good 'tinto joven' red from Ribera del Duero (a young oak 'Roble'). All for the cost of less than a Pizza Hut meal.
Also - no horses were served by accident, so we were not 'saddled' with an unacceptable culinary surprise! Recession - what recession? Get out and support your local restaurants people - or else - COOK!
Calle Gorrión, San Pedro de Alcantara. Take the A397 (Ronda Road) north from the N340. At the second roundabout take the 3rd exit toward the BP gas station. At the first roundabout turn right and go straight until the end of the road.
Friend's Restaurant is located in the Fernando Moreno furniture building behind the BP petrol station. You can't miss it.Telephone:
