Guy Fawkes Day
by: Marbella Family

I figure you are trying to find out if there are any Guy Fawkes celebrations going on November 5th. Sorry for the confusion.

There have been a number of requests on our Facebook page about this holiday as well, so I´ve been doing lots of research.

Unfortunately, there is not much going on...or at least advertised. Many friends have said that there used to be a bonfire night in Sotogrande years ago, while Gibraltarians recall plenty of celebrations in Gibraltar in their youth. However, no one seems to know of anything going on either on the Coast or in Gibraltar for Guy Fawkes Day this year. Many say that it is possibly due to the prohibitions put in place on building fires on the beach and launching fireworks for safety reasons.

I have browsed so many Gibraltar websites and left messages via email requesting information, but unfortunately, no has answered. I´ve even called the Tourist Information office in Gibraltar and they say that there is nothing official planned for the day.

I´ll keep this holiday in mind and post anything (even if it´s after the fact for next year) I find.

Holiday in Marbella
by: Marbella Family

Are you sure that we are talking about November 5th and not confusing it with All Saints Day on November 1st (a national holiday)? I can´t seem to find anyone who knows of a holiday on that day, but will continue searching and will let you know.

November 5th
by: Marbella Family

As far as I know there is no holiday on November 5th. Maybe you are confusing the date with November 1st and the weekend just before - All Saint´s Day, also known as Dia del Toston?
