* Costa del Sol tours from Mijas

One of our readers is looking for some help to discover the Costa del Sol from Mijas and asks, “I've just moved to Mijas for a few months from Austria and cannot find tours that would pick me up from Villa la Jamisa.

The buses from Mijas to Fuengirola are often very late and the walk down the mountain to the bus station in Mijas is impossible when it rains.

How are tourists who live in Mijas catered for? I'm ready to book a dozen tours and nobody is interested. Can't be all that bad business in Spain.”

We have made some recommendations, so take a look if you are interested. Or, if you have a tour to recommend or can help out in any way, please add a comment. Click here to read more...

* Marbella State Schools

This is an interesting post! One of our readers needs a bit of advice on making the transition from a British education to a Spanish education system and asks, “I am sure other people have been in this position so would appreciate some advice. We have to take our son out of English school in Marbella and enter him into the Spanish system due to funding. He is 12 with a basic level of Spanish, he has been in an English school here for 8 years. How easy would it be for him to adjust? Any advice would be appreciated.”

There are some interesting comments, so please take a look and add to the conversation if can help out or have an opinion. Click here to read more...

* Looking for dog groomer

One of our readers is looking for recommendations and asks, ”Can you recommend a good dog groomer in Marbella or the surrounding area? Actually, a mobile dog groomer would be ideal. “

* Feast of San Martin

The Feast of San Martin, also known as Día de San Martin or La Matanza (literally The Killing), takes place every year on November 11th. This celebration involves the slaughtering of pigs so that they are dried to make ham, black pudding and sausage to sustain the villagers throughout the winter. Evidently the German school has their own way of celebrating this holiday. The Colegio Aleman is organizing a parade through streets of Las Chapas tonight at 7pm starting at Avenida Valeriano Rodríguez and ending at Plaza Pueblo Platero at 7:30 where kids will be offered sweets and adults drink mulled wine and listen to music.
