* Housekeeping work

One of our readers is looking for work and posts:

”Dear Sir/Madam,

I am struggling to find any work as a Housekeeper/Cleaner in Marbella.
I am preferably looking for private work rather than through an agency and I'm not sure where is best to look/advertise.

I have recently relocated to Marbella and I am seeking work in Housekeeping/Mother's Help/Cleaning.

I have 9 years experience within this industry and I have been running my own business in London for the past 3 years.

I have some fantastic references and I have worked with children (young and old).

I am pet friendly as I have 3 dogs of my own and I have owned and worked with horses in the past too.”

If you are looking for help around the house, please get in touch. Or share this link information with someone who may need it. Click here to read more…

* Choosing the right educational pathway

This time of year parents with young children are thinking about the best options for primary schooling and looking for information on where to go and what to do. To help, Sotogrande International School is running a special information event on Wednesday 5th March from 18.00-19.00, to give pre-school parents an insight into the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) primary programme, the IB’s approach to learning for younger children and the pathway to further education in Spain and abroad. This is a chance to ask questions and find out more about this education system prior to choosing a primary school.Click here to read more…

* Funky Tapas

Our favorite restaurant critic Morris Bishop has another fantastic review for us. This time he visits Funky Tapas in Nueva Andalucia:

”Garry Wait’s new venture, FUNKY TAPAS opened last December with Teresa, his long time collaborator in front of house and a talented group of chefs to create a new twist on the traditional Spanish tapas.

Some 60 items are listed, many of which are freshly made to order.” Click here to read more…

TIP: For more restaurant recommendations, check out the Marbella Restaurant Guide for more family friendly options.

* Semana Blanca

Starting February 24th, children across Andalucia have an elective week of vacation called Semana Blanca (White Week). It is chosen by the Autonomous Communities to compensate for the local ferias that occur during the summer break. Click here to read more…

TIP: If you are heading to Sierra Nevada to ski, be prepared for crowds, but loads of fun.

* Andalucia Day

Andalusia Day, Día de Andalucía in Spanish, is a holiday celebrated only in the region of Andalucia to commemorate the referendum for Andalucia to become an autonomous community within Spain, which was held on February 28, 1980. This day is celebrated every year on February 28th. Click here to read more…

TIP: Schools and most businesses are closed or have shortened hours on this day, so be sure to check opening hours of any business before you head out.

* Da Brunos Restaurant

Restaurant critic Morris Bishop had a fantastic night out on Valentine’s Day at Da Bruno’s Sur Mare. Check out what he has to say about this Italian eatery:

”We were two couples enjoying a night out at one of my favourite restaurants in Marbella, and it is probably unfair of us to say that the highlight of our evening was listening to the voice of an 18 year old diva to be, who is still studying in the Malaga Conservatory of music. I say unfair, because the ambience, cuisine, service, and entertainment, were all of such a high standard as to be faultless.

I rarely wax lyrical to this extent about an eatery, but this was an evening that will linger in my memory for a very long time.” Click here to read more…

* Local acupuncturist

Thank you in advance :)"

”I am looking for second hand or place I can buy new car seat cheaply for my grandchildren 1 year and older. Since it is just for vacation that they are coming here I do not need expensive best quality ones but I want something that is reliable and safe.”

There are many options, so take a look at this link if you are also looking to rent or buy a car seat. Or, add to our growing list if you have somewhere to recommend. Click here to read more…
