what do you think about the college Mayfair International Academy in Estepona?

We are trying to find the right college for our son in the Estepona area. He will be 5 by September 2010.
Could you give me more information about Mayfair (Isdabe)?
Are you happy with the college and why?
How would you compare it with other colleges such as Aloha, Laude,..?

My kids went to Mayfair Academy for a few years and were very happy there; however, when my oldest daughter was going into the secondary, I decided that a bigger school might be better so we transferred them to Laude International San Pedro last year. In Laude I liked the themed way of teaching in Primary and there were a lot of social activities in both Primary and Secondary that my kids enjoyed. However, my younger daughter’s performance, who was in year 3 then, went substantially down and she was crying almost every morning, feeling extremely stressed, going to school (first time in her life)!!

This year I transferred my girls back to Mayfair mainly because my son, who is 4, was starting school. He wasn’t happy at any of the kindergartens I sent him to before so I felt that Mayfair’s small, family-like atmosphere and the fact that my younger daughter would be in the same building (unlike Laude) would be good for him. All my kids are very happy in school now and I never have problems with any of them in the morning going to school as I did when they were going to Laude.

Overall I feel that Mayfair is perfect for kids who are new to the country and need an environment that makes it easy to adopt, especially in their Primary school.

We don´t have our kids in Mayfair Academy (they´re in Laude) so we can´t give you a fair evaluation on the school, however we suggest you look at a question (and our answer) posted by another person asking about schools in the Marbella area. It may be useful. We also posted a page for another who asked about Mayfair Academy. You can find it here.

Recently I had a friend take a look at Mayfair Academy. An English family who have their children in a Spanish school now and she was very disappointed with the facilities, particularly since the price wasn´t much different from other schools with much better facilities such as Aloha and Laude. I suggest you take a look at all the schools you are interested to get a better feel for them as it will help you to sort out your priorities.

Personally, as your child is only 5, I recommend you take a look at St. George´s School in San Pedro. It´s a small English school that has an excellent reputation. It´s not in Estepona, but if you´re considering Laude and Aloha, it is within your driving range.
