Traditional Spanish family run restaurant

by Susan
(Marbella)

I am looking for a traditional Spanish restaurant anywhere with a view ? Mountains or Sea. I once went to a Mallorcain House in the Mountains and the Father cooked the meals and his 2 daughters served and helped out in the kitchen. The Spanish family only served 2 groups of people at one time (day) and 2 at (night).

This is the kind of restaurant I am looking for, or at least Very Traditional Spanish Food. Thank you in advance to help me out :)

Friends Restaurant San Pedro
by: Zora

One of our family favorites at the moment is Friends Restaurant in San Pedro. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the visit.

Be sure to try the "secreto" and "pluma" meat dishes. Place it in the center of the table and share with the rest!

El Higueron & El Kiosco
by: Barbara Wood

I agree with previous comments, El Higueron, just off the motorway near Benalmádena, has terrific food and spectacular views. One of the best meals I have had in Spain was there. Totally Spanish, but big.

By the Guadalhorce lakes, El Kiosco is run by the sons of the 1950s founder, when it was just a kiosk. Wonderful positon, very busy on Sunday lunchtimes, try during the week.

If you fancy a drive out, I adore Restaurante el Tunel, which sits above the Embalse de Guadalhorce, amazing views over the lake...

Refugio de Juanar restaurante
by: Emanuel

Try the restaurant at the Refugio de Juanar. It's up the road to Ojen from La Cañada commercial center about 15 minutes from there.

There are some great "ventas" offering the traditional "plato de los motes" in the Montes de Malaga area on the outskirts of Malaga ...

Los Abanicos restaurante in Benahavis
by: Stine

Los Abanicos in Benahavis, no view though, has great food, family run but not like you mention. We go to a place in Ibiza in summer run like that. You actually eat what the dad and son have fished. Can't really think of a place here that's run like that on the coast but up in the villages there must be some.

The hotel as you come into Istan, a steep driveway up to it, amazing views of the mountains.

El Higueron Spanish restaurant
by: Amanda

El Higueron. Amazing views, very traditional, quite a big place though, not sure you'll find Pops in there, but still, very very good.

Benahavis has great places too, mostly family run

Venta Garcia and El Higueron restaurante
by: Charlotte

What about one of the ventas on the Casares road. Venta Garcia for example? Or El Higueron?

El Higueron is the big one above the motorway as you pass Benalmadena on the way to Malaga. Venta Garcia is on the main road up to Casares from the Coast.

Los Sardinales Spanish seafood restaurant
by: Zora

Our favorite Spanish traditional restaurant is Los Sardinales in Elviria. It has a great view of the sea, but it's not the cozy mom & pop place you're looking for.
