Talk Radio Europe Telethon in aid of Cudeca

Join us in raising money for Cudeca. Marbella Family Fun will create a special post about Cudeca on the Marbella Family Fun Facebook page on the day of the telethon and pledge one euro (up to 1,000 euro) for every "Like" we receive on that post.


For the last few years, Marbella-based Talk Radio Europe on Spain's Costa del Sol has run a one-day “Radio Telethon Auction” in aid of the Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice in Benalmadena.

Each year, Cudeca requires over two and a half million Euros to support the home-care, day centre and in-patient treatment it provides free to cancer sufferers and over the last 4 years the “Telethon” has raised more than €200,000 towards Cudeca´s goal.

TRE will be running another Telethon in 2011 and we are hoping that you might be prepared to give us your support.

Our current plan is to have the special www.tretelethon.com web site up and running from late November through to the Telethon Day on December 2nd, with all the auction items and sponsor data available, allowing visitors to make advance bids on items they wish to try and buy and giving our sponsors some advertising for their generosity.

Over the years, the gifts have been wide ranging and have included beauty products and treatment sessions; advertisement space in newspapers and magazines; celebrity owned and signed items; Christmas gifts and hampers; furniture; hotel, apartment and villa stays; jewellery; wines & spirits, kitchen items; restaurant meals; tickets for events...and many, many more exciting things.

The average price we hope to raise is between €150 and €250 per item, but our benefactors and bidders can help us to raise much more.

In one auction, a dinner for eight people cooked by Antony Worrall Thompson was hosted in the beautiful home of the proprietors of the prestigious Mijas Playa Restaurant – and for this fabulous prize, a very generous supporter paid €5,000.

Should you be willing to sponsor an item for the Telethon, I am sure it would make an outstanding prize that would receive many bids and generate significant interest.

Should you visit it, you will read about the work that is undertaken by this special charity which was started over 19 years ago by a British lady (Joan Hunt OBE) and which manages to bring the Spanish and expatriate communities together in a most worthy cause.
