Sledging in Sierra Nevada

Would love to take the kids sledging this weekend. We'll need to rent sledges so guess we have to head into the village? And then is there a designated sledging area? Would appreciate any advice you can give us.

Sledding in Sierra Nevada

There is a part where you can sled that´s a bit further up the mountain resort where the old Parador hotel used to be. There are also places where you can rent sleds now. I don´t think it´s anything really big, but it´s still a good place to take the kids.

Sledging

Hi
I'm also interested in taking my kids sledging there. Does anyone know where you can buy sledges from and if it is easy enough to find an area for just sledging??? Have had a look at the activity zone and like you say it is quite expensive. Would like to just do our own thing?? Also any advise on where is best to stay??

Sledding Sierra Nevada

There is a zone in the Sierra Nevada ski resort dedicated to kids called the Mirlo Blanco activity zone where the kids can ice-skate, toboggan, ski-bike, chair-bike, mini-ski, mini-snowboard and ride the Trineo Ruso, which is a cross between a bobsled and rollercoaster ride.

There is a charge to use this area and they offer the equipment, however I don´t remember the prices. One website has the ice rink priced at 7.75€ per adult (per hour) and 6.75€ per child (per hour).

I remember when we went to Sierra Nevada last time that we brought our own sleds and tried to find an area to just go down ourselves, but we were not allowed to do this in the area near the kid zone. We were told it was too dangerous and we had to leave our sleds outside the zone. I was told that there was a dedicated area further up the mountain, but it was too far for us to be bothered with at the time.

You can see photos and find out more about the kids zone here: http://www.sierranevada.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=48&Itemid=231&lang=en
