SUR in Estepona
SUR is in a pleasant Plaza just off the main road within a stones throw of the beach with 20 seats outside and about 50 in the Quirky dining room, full of farm implements and old cooking utensils hanging from both ceiling and walls.
A ‘place setting’ menu with over 80 dishes on is divided into Cold & Hot starters, Charcoal grilled mains, Other mains, Desserts, plus a dozen Moroccan dishes, a Kids menu and even a Pizza!
The four of us chose: A tropical Salad, Pil Pil, and a Black pudding with Chorizo sausage. For mains, Prawns on a bed of rice in a green curry sauce, and, as the house specialty is Argentine Steaks, three of us chose an Entrecote, Beef Fillet with Raspberry Cream and Goats Cheese and a Rib eye, all were delicious and challenging to such an extent that doggy bags were called for.
Note: you have to order any vegetables and sauces (pepper, mustard, mushroom, or Roquefort) separately. Deserts look great on paper but we were already beaten.
Chef/Owner Juan certainly knows how to produce flavoursome food
and is sufficiently generous for those of us with a larger appetite,
whilst his helpful staff of Mercedes and Evelyn keep the customers happy.
SUR is in Plaza Ortiz, number 10, which is just north of the N340 alongside the Paseo Maritimo at the easterly end of Estepona, below which, conveniently, is the east underground car park.
