It is time to hit the road for some Marbella Day Trips...Marbella's attractions, like the rest of the Costa del Sol, make for some treasured family memories. In 2017, the city has more than enough to offer locals and tourists. Whether you're just stepping off the porch of your villa for the first time, or are a veteran of the region and know its every sun-kissed promenade, your Marbella adventure is really just getting started...

Go back in Time in Marbella's old town

It's easy to forget that there's more to the city than just beaches, pearly white buildings, and sun loungers. Next time you're on a family day out, take a wander through the Old Town. It's a collection of narrow streets filled with quaint cafes and restaurants, ideal for spending many a fond evening eating out with the loved ones. Head to the Plaza de los Naranjos, otherwise known as the Orange Square - a popular spot which dates back to 1485. Sit amongst orange trees, whilst enjoying a refreshing drink after a long day spent soaking up the famous Costa del Sol sun.

Chill out in the Alameda Park

Just south of here, the La Almeda Park is the best spot to catch some shade in between bursts of sun. Let the kids run free, or take a walk to the fountain - a serene structure comprising Andalusian tiles and high spouting jets of water. You won't come across a backdrop this good very often, so bring a camera to help capture the moment. It's also home to tiled benches, which although may not be the comfiest seats, are equally good photo opportunities!

Drive out to El Torcal Natural Park

It's always good to get off the beaten track, so why not drive inland to the rustic rocks of El Torcal. It spans an impressive 17 square kilometres, and has some of the finest limestone formations in Spain. These peaks and ruts are dramatic in every sense of the word, whilst the area was actually submerged underwater over a hundred million years ago. It takes an hour and a half by road from here to Marbella, but upon seeing these ruins your children will feel like they're back in medieval times, making every second of the journey worth it.

Take a day trip to Malaga

There's ample public transport links between Marbella and Malaga, making visits to the region's capital both quick and easy. Explore the harbour, or spend a few hours browsing the works of Pablo Picasso, in the Picasso museum. This is a great way to get a feel for the city's cultural side, before heading out and catching a few rays by the beach. Beaches here stretch right across the coast, and are filled with cafes and bars to keep you cool with ice creams and cold beverages. Following that, go to Castillo Gibralfaro, Malaga's castle. You'll be rewarded with longsome views over the Costa del Sol, and plenty of family photography opportunities for next year's Christmas card!

Marbella is just the starting point of your adventures in the Costa del Sol. Once you've left your villa, the area opens up a whole new world of activities which'll see you return time and time again.
