by Nadja
(NY, USA)

Hi there,

we are an American family from New York who is planning to visit Marbella this summer. We will be traveling with two boys ages 5 and 7 and were curious about any family friendly resorts that are in marbella, we would prefer to stay close to the city of Marbella.
Thanks

Try Sultan Club too
by: LindsayinSpain

If you want town centre then I would definitely say the El Fuerte or Fuerte Miramar, & have kids clubs in summer, but also check out the Sultan Club which is very family friendly due to being apartments, but are walking distance to everything. I'm feeling a bit jealous actually! :-)

Marbella family friendly beach hotels part 2
by: Marbella Family

The beaches in the Puerto Banus area are similar to the ones in Marbella center. The sand is fine and they get crowded in summer, but offer lots of chiringuitos (beach restaurants and bars) to choose from. Personally, I find the restaurant prices a bit higher in the Puerto Banus area than Marbella center.

You may find it helpful to read our One Day tour guide to find out what the main attractions Marbella has to offer.

Good luck and let us know how your trip goes!

Marbella family friendly beach hotels part 1
by: Marbella Family

If you want to stay in Marbella town without needing a car to get to shops and restaurants, then you will most likely have to stay in a hotel as opposed to a resort. The difference will be that a hotel may offer fewer pools and maybe less of a selection of children's activities and organized entertainment, if at all. Resorts tend to be larger and occupy more space, so it's difficult to find one in the center.

For family friendly hotels in Marbella you have two areas that may be interesting: Marbella center or Puerto Banus. Both areas have plenty of shops, restaurants, beaches and things to see right out the front door. If it's location that is most important for you, then I would recommend Hotel Fuerte. It is a large hotel that has access to both the beach and the center of town. They have a flamenco show in the lobby that we've been to that we really enjoyed. I am not sure about children's activities, but know that the Hotel Fuerte is one of the few hotels with an indoor pool. From here you can walk 2 minutes to the historical district of Marbella, stroll the boardwalk, which starts at the back door of the hotel, hang out on the beach and stay busy all day discovering Marbella's parks and side streets. Take a look at the Marbella center beach guide to understand what to expect with beaches in the center of Marbella.

Puerto Banus is also well located. The only hotel I can recommend is the Pyr Hotel. It is a three star hotel and very basic. There are two pools and a mini club for kids in July and August only. I had friends who stayed there who said it was alright. Not fabulous, but for the price very reasonable. Unfortunately, Hotel Pyr is not right on the beach and you will have to walk about 5 - 10 minutes to get there. There are a couple of hotels closer to the water called the Benabola Hotel, Hotel Park Plaza Suites and the Melia Marbella Banus Hotel, but I don't know anything about these hotels other than that they are well located (Melia being furthest from the shops and restaurants, but only a five minute walk as opposed to outside your front door). I would recommend doing a search on TripAdvisor to see some reviews.

helpful comments for a Marbella family resort
by: Nadya

Hi everyone,
thanks for all the comments regarding my last post, but I wanted to add that we prefer to stay inside the town of marbella, not outside the town. We want to be able to walk out of our hotel and be in walking distance to marbella. We have two boys ages 5 and 7 and want to stay somewhere family friendly with a pool. Thanks everyone.I appreciate any input.

Marbessa resort Marbella
by: Lynda

We've stayed at Marbessa (Las Chapas) before and it was nice and relaxing with a pool and the beach at the end of the road.

Hacienda del Sol Estepona
by: Janet Humpidge

This resort is very safe for children and has lovely pools and gardens. It is a short walk to the beach but is a car ride from Puerto Banus and Marbella. It is all privately owned apartments which many rent out.

Marriott Resort in Elviria
by: Zora

We have had friends stay at the Marriott Resort in Elviria. They have been several times and were very happy. The rooms were spacious and they had lots of pools and activities for the kids. When they came in October it was still active with lots of people and ambience, so it felt like summer was still in full swing. Usually by October, you can feel that summer is winding down and winter is on its way. Not so at the Marriott Resort.

The location is pretty good. You will find the best beaches right there, but you will need a car to get into Marbella center, Puerto Banus and other attractions.

Marriott Playa Andaluza, Estepona
by: Karin

great resort! however, not near Marbella, you'll need a car to get there (or the bus, which stops at the road nearby). there's a marriott resort near marbella too, but i've never been there, maybe you could check the distance from marbella. it's marriott-quality, which is always more than OK! swimming pools, playgrounds, a shop for grocery (and withing walking distance you find a little supermarket), beach and sea of course (i don't know, maybe 20 meters walk from the resort;-)). delicious breakfast and restaurant, ... You'll find there spacious appartments with two bedrooms or three, hotelservice every day, ... have a nice holiday!
