 El Niņo lottery

Lottery during the Christmas holidays is an institution in Spain. El Gordo drawn on December 22nd is the biggest prize. It is very widely played across the country.

El Niņo, literally meaning the little one, is a slightly smaller draw celebrated on January 6th, the Three Kings Day. It represents a second chance for people missing out on El Gordo, and will occupy most TV channel broadcast during the midday draw.
