Ambrosia Gourmet Market in Puerto Banus is the first large-scale gourmet market on the Costa del Sol. The concept was the brainchild of Spanish and Hungarian investors who wanted to create an ambiance similar to that of the famous San Miguel Market in Madrid.

The market includes a space of 1,000 square meters, 250 meters from the heart of Puerto Banús, easily accessed and with ample parking, in the area of La Alzambra.

With an investment of around half a million euros, the project, is presented as "an evolution of our forgotten village squares and traditional central markets, into a market of culinary art that combines three features: the on-site tasting of natural or prepared products, the selling of food and drinks for daily or occasional consumption, as well as delicatessen of national and international origin, plus the organising of special events».

The new market is spread over two floors plus four terraces with a total capacity serving some 400 people.

The operation, as explained by Ambrosia Mercados S.L. Company, is the same as the San Miguel Market in Madrid, i.e., products purchased at different stands may be taken home or tasted on-site. To this end, there will be high tables scattered throughout the floor space, or people may eat or drink standing up."There will be a wide range of products with different prices, always of superior quality and giving priority to fresh products, but accessible to all.”

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
by: Karl

As I live next door and read all the PR this was the most anticipated openings for a long time.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.
it's not really a market. It's more like the food court in an average American mall Food on offer is not better than, not more exclusive than or not a "delicatessen" broader selection than anywhere else.
The number of vendors is not big
We were under the usher standing you could buy high end produce and also eat. It's the other way around, it’s a mall-type multi cafeteria shared seating fast food operation. Very little to buy and what you can buy is available from many other shops close by.
We tried the creperie ( or for Slavic people Blinchikerie) what a *!?*^*!? Joke. The crepes are all made in the morning and they just take them off the pile and re-heat it ??? WTF? There are 3 other creperies( with lower prices) in and around Puerto Banus and countless in greater Marbella. They make them fresh in the little circular hot griddle.
No condiments on any tables
Toilets are built ( day 2 look ok) to a flimsy cramp quality with sliding doors and chela porcelain. Will look like crap in a year The butcher has a very minimal selection of meats Seafood vendor had shrimp scampi kräftor BUT THAT’S IT.
The Service was nice at creperie (2 helpful pleasant English girls) but we had 6 crepes between 4 of us. DECIDEDLY MEDIOCRE ( definitely not passing "en Provence" where the French have thousands of such places on every corner.
None of the other market stalls attracted us to BUY ONE SINGLE PRODUCE between El Corte Ingles, Iceland @ Miadel the series shop you have way more interesting produce selection and quality. Which leaves ambrosia as an eating / restaurant destination. But none of the vendors in themselves have a broad enough or quality enough offering to justify the mid-upper price for what is in essence SIMPLY A BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED FAST-FOOD COURT. Won't wash with exclusive quality conscious crowds of Marbella Puerto Banus.

I am a big fan and frequenter of such places (that’s is SUCH being as billed, as in advertising and as in PR including the introduction on this site) a regular visitor to Östermalmshallen in Stockholm, regular visitor to CUlinaris in Budapest, DELITE in Kyiv and various markets and food specialty places in USA as well as the produce department of EL Corte Ingles and the great British, Ukrainian, Swedish deli shops in Marbella. . . . BUT SADLY THIS ONE ON MY DOORSTEP WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT not good enough to be a restaurant and no real interesting or different or better food than I can already buy in local shops where I have to go anyway for normal produce. WHAT IS ITS MARKET? Not trendy not cool, not fashionable limited selection of produce and fast food at a high price????
