* Team Xtreme adventures

Team Xtreme is organizing two great events this weekend. On Saturday join them for their downhill mountain bike tour from Ronda to Marbella. This bike trip of approximately 36km is 85 % downhill through the beautiful natural park of Sierra de las Nieves.

On Sunday test out your river skills at their advanced canyoning experience at Rio Lentegi. Andalucía has some of Europe’s most spectacular gorges and canyons, offering stunning water falls, deep natural pools and breathtaking scenery. * Queen Tribute concert August 5th

Don´t miss the Queen tribute concert on Friday August 5th in Marbella! * Where to run in Marbella

One of our readers asks, “I am passing my holidays around Marbella this year from the 30th of July until the 20th of August. I am now preparing for a marathon which I will run on the 5th of October. Does anyone know if I can test my skills during my holidays in Spain? I am looking for several road running races from 10 k up to 25 k. ”

We´ve had several postings last week looking for anyone offering to sell, exchange or give away their old school uniforms. If you have changed schools or your children have outgrown their old uniforms, please consider helping out another family. The Mariposario Butterfly Park recently opened in Benalmadena and we received a raving review about the premises. This is a nice way to spend the afternoon and learn about the lifecycle of butterflies. * Pony riding summer school

The Escuela de Arte Ecuestre in Estepona is offering children a great summer experience with their Pony Riding Summer School that runs until September 9, 2011.

Children are offered intensive riding lessons including theory, practical, games and excursions. This is a beautiful school with professional trainers, so you will absolutely love the premises and hanging out for a coffee while the little ones have a lesson or even stay for lunch. * XI National Horse Jumping Competition

The Estepona riding school Escuela de Arte Ecuestre is hosting the XI National Horse Show Jumping Competition from July 28 - 31, 2011 daily from 10:00 to 14:00 and then 18:00 to 24:00.

On Wednesday July 27th at 8:00pm join the school for a cocktail evening and again on Saturday July 30th at 10:30pm for 6 bar jumping and a flamenco party. Click here to read more...


* Open air concerts in Marbella and San Pedro

Marbella and San Pedro will be holding outdoor concerts at 9:00pm this Saturday and Sunday. The municipal bands play on Plaza de la Iglesia in San Pedro and on the Paseo de la Alameda in Marbella.

For anyone who has moved to Marbella, you know that one of the toughest decisions you have to make is which school to place your children in. One of our readers is looking for help on choosing a public school in Marbella. We don´t have much experience in this area ourselves (our kids attend private schools), so we would really appreciate it if you have any input to help out a fellow reader who asks, “Hi do you have any information on public schools in the Elviria area, I am planning on moving to Marbella with kids 3 and 6 years old. “
