* Route 66 new American diner

If you’re looking for an all American meal in Marbella that the kids will love, head down to the newly opened Route 66 diner in Puerto Banus. From waffles to steak and egg breakfast, buffalo wings and rib eye steak for lunch (leave room for dessert!), Route 66 has all of our American favorites. This family friendly restaurant has a children’s menu, high chairs and a lovely patio outdoors on Antonio Banderas square where kids can run free and not feel strapped to stay in their seats.

* The Estepona Youth Theatre

The Estepona Youth Theatre is now accepting students for their summer courses in drama and musical performance for children 7 - 16 yrs. The numbers are kept small so that all youngsters can thrive in a non threatening, confidence building environment run by well qualified teaching staff. Course runs Monday to Friday 10am - 2pm. * La Latina Baby School

La Latina Baby School is the perfect environment for children as young as three months old to four years old. This bilingual preschool offers a safe and fun program with caring teachers that allows children to smoothly make that transition from home to the outside world.

Join La Latina Baby School for their summer program 15 July to 15 September from 7:30am to 5:00pm (choice of hours). For children 1 to 5 yrs. * Dinopetrea Malaga dinosaur exhibit

There’s a new exhibit coming to town and it may just be worth the drive to Malaga. Dinopetrea displays fossils and skeletons (some as old as 125 million years old!) as well as offers parallel activities for learning how these predators roamed the earth. * Charity Family Fun Day

A Charity Family Fun Day is being held at the Lauro Golf Academy in Alhaurin de la Torre on Sunday June 3rd, 2012 from 12pm until 5pm. Individual charities are welcome to have a free stall to sell goods or run an activity and make money purely for their own charity. Click here to read more…

* Labor Day

Don’t forget that Tuesday May 1st is Labor Day in Spain. This means that most businesses and schools are closed. This year it falls on a Tuesday. Some businesses and schools may in fact make a “puente” a bridge on the Monday (it’s definitely one in Madrid) to have a longer weekend, so check schedules for Monday April 30 before heading out. * Marbella Todo Danza Dance Festival

Marbella Todo Danza is a dance festival that has been running all week with artists from all over Spain and runs until May 5th, so there is still some time to catch the last few performances this weekend and next week. Tonight’s performance is with the Conservatorio Profesional de música y danza "Reina Sofia" from Granada (Granada Professional conservatory of music and dance) at 8:30pm at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.

On Saturday you can see the Gelabert-Azzopardi Compañia de Danza at 9:00pm at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.

And on Sunday at the Templete del Paseo de la Alameda (Alameda Park):

11:00: Children's Jazz and Hip Hop workshop taught by Caterina Chisei (Marbella Dance School)

18:00: Flashmob with belly dancing, break dancing and salsa

* International Fair in Fuengirola

The 17th “Feria internacional de los pueblos” – “Fuengirola International Fair” is taking place Saturday April 28th to May 1st. This event attracted over 990,000 people to the huge Fuengirola fairground in 2011, with representation from 36 countries. The 2012 FIP is expected to attract in excess of one million visitors!

* Name a Spanish bar

I nearly sent this out before I noticed a posting on our Facebook wall. One of our followers asks, "Can anybody come up with a name for a tapas bar that is opening soon here in Dublin, the young owner is running a Coffee shop in the day and is opening the shop/restaurant as a tapas bar at night, any ideas please."
